WAH-WAH x KUNMANARA (TIGER) YALTANGKI

This jumper was designed in direct collaboration with Kunmanara (Tiger) Yaltangki in 2022. Yaltangki sadly passed away in September of 2024. WAH-WAH has the permission of Iwantja Arts and The estate of Kunmanara Yaltangki to continue producing and featuring the artist's work and name.

If the lion is the king of the jungle, then Kunmanara (Tiger) Yaltangki was the king of the Indulkana desert. As a largely non-verbal artist, Yaltangki used painting as a vital form of self-expression. The bold and colourful brushstrokes of his paintings capture the concept of Mamu (spirit beings) and are always infused with a more contemporary spirit - that of rock n roll! This collaboration with WAH-WAH pays a cheeky tribute to Yaltangki's favourite band - the heavy hitting, hard rocking AC/DC!

It’s a long way to the top, but Kunmanara (Tiger) Yaltangki well and truly earned his place in the best galleries around Australia and abroad!
